In 2016, the designer Serhat Isik and the photographer Benjamin Alexander Huseby launched GmbH, which means a company of limited liability in german. Inspired by Berlin's renowned club scene, the label's youthful DNA takes its cues from sportswear to create off-duty pieces including trousers, T-shirts, tops and jackets in a variety of fabrics, from PVC to velvet. While Isik has a background in fashion design, Huseby is a photographer who has shot pages for Dazed, AnOther, Another Man and countless publications besides, and describes GmbH as something that has been “simmering away for many years.” Inspired by the multiculturalism of their own backgrounds and that of their community’s, the majority of the pair’s clothes are made from deadstock material sourced from a high-end factory in Milan – in resistance to the overconsumption of today’s fashion industry.
